Men’s Golf in Second Place after Round One

AUBURN, Ala. – The Florida State men’s golf team is in second place after one round of the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate at the Saugahatchee Country Club on Opelika, AL. The Seminole team score of 287 is five strokes behind first-round leader Auburn University. The University of South Carolina, Tennessee and the University of Alabama are two strokes behind the Seminoles.




Senior Craig Cochran is in first place after firing a four-under par 68 in the first round. Cochran carded a 33 on the back nine to stand one stroke ahead of four golfers. Kris Hannah continued his solid play with an opening round 70. Hannah is tied for seventh place with two other golfers. Matt Ackley shot the best round of his young collegiate career with a 73 on Friday. Ackley is tied for 21st. Mark Donaldson and Nathan Bertsch rounded out the scoring for the Seminoles, finishing the day tied for 38th and alone in 60th, respectively.




The Seminoles will play the second round on Friday morning at the Saugahatchee Country Club.
