TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida State men’s golf team returns to action after two weeks off as they travel to the Compaq Collegiate Golf Championships this weekend. The event, previously called the U.S. Collegiate Championships, was won by the Seminoles last year at the World Golf Village.
This year’s tournament will once again be televised on ESPN on Saturday and Sunday. The second round is scheduled for Saturday with ESPN airing coverage from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST. The final round will be played on Sunday. Coverage is set from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. EST.
The top two players for the Seminoles entering the tournament are sophomores Kris Hannah and Mark Donaldson. Hannah is coming off a tied for third finish at the Seminole Classic last month, while Donaldson is the only Seminole to play in every event this year. Donaldson leads the team with a stroke average of 75.0 and his best finish was alone in 20th place at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships. Hannah has a composite stroke average of 75.4 in 20 rounds of play.
The tournament features several of the top programs in the country. The field includes: Arizona, Arizona State, Florida State, Minnesota, New Mexico, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, UNLV and USC.
