Men’s Golf Places 12th at Seminole Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – South Carolina turned in a two-day team score
of 585 and edged North Carolina State by one stroke to win the 1999
Seminole Classic, hosted by Florida State University and held at Golden
Eagle Country Club. NC State led all teams with a 292 total in today’s
action, but South Carolina’s first-round total of 285 was enough to hold
them to victory. North Carolina, Tennessee, South Alabama and Mississippi
State all tied for third with a 600 for the tournament. Host Florida State
placed 12th overall among the 16 teams.



South Carolina’s Kyle Thompson led the field with a 142, followed
by NC State’s Mark Gauley who placed second with a score of 143 and had a
low round of 69 in today’s action.




Florida State’s Kris Hannah led the
Seminoles and placed third overall, along with NC State’s Carl Pettersson,
with a total score of 145.




Rounding out the Top five was Eric Ecker of
South Carolina with a 146. The Gamecocks had four finishers among the Top
10.
