TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The Florida State men’s golf team gets ready for the always-challenging Valspar Collegiate Invitational played at Floridian Golf Club from March 19-21 in Palm City, Fla.
The 2017 field includes 13 teams, with nine of them ranked in the Golfstat Top 50. Aside from No. 30 FSU, the other ranked teams include No. 10 Wake Forest, No. 12 LSU, No. 14 Texas A&M, No. 18 Texas, No. 23 Arkansas, No. 27 Georgia Tech and No. 33 South Carolina.
Memphis, Minnesota, North Texas and USF are also part of the tournament.
This will be FSU’s fourth consecutive year playing at the Valspar in Palm City. In 2015, the Seminoles won the tournament as current senior Josh Lee tied for 23rd while Cristobal Del Solar tied for 38th.
FSU’s emerging lineup includes redshirt junior and Arnold Palmer Cup selection Harry Ellis, Del Solar, redshirt freshman Jonathan Keppler, sophomore Corey Carlson and senior Josh Lee.
The Seminoles have recorded back-to-back second-place finishes in last weekend’s Seminole Intercollegiate and on Monday’s two-round Southern Intercollegiate.
A shot-gun start will occur on Sunday at 1:30 p.m., followed by what is expected to be split-tee starts on Monday and Tuesday.
