Men’s Golf Season Comes to an End

DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, S.C. — The Florida State men’s golf team finished their
season on Saturday with a 12th place finish at the NCAA East Regional at
the Melrose Golf Course in Daufuskie Island, SC. The Seminoles recorded a
third-round 291 to finish seven strokes behind Southeastern Louisiana
University. The top 11 teams from the East Regional qualified for the NCAA
Championships in two weeks.

Mark Monroe led the Seminoles from start to finish, placing tied for 29th
with a three-round total of 217. After struggling in the first round,
George McNeill recorded back-to-back rounds of 72 to finish tied for 40th
with a three-day total of 219. Nathan Bertsch also recorded a total of
three-over par 219. Barry Dyche, playing in his last tournament as a
Seminole, carded a final-round 74 and finished tied for 58th. Jason Pool
rounded out the scoring for the Seminoles, finishing tied for 85th after a
74 on Saturday.

Georgia Tech won the team competition, beating ACC-rival Clemson by nine
strokes. Georgia Tech’s Matt Kuchar led from start to finish, beating
teammate Bryce Molder by four strokes for the individual championship.
