BAY ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Florida State men’s golf team finished in 14th place at the Bridges All-American Intercollegiate in Bridges Country Club on Tuesday. The Seminoles fired a final-round 304 to finish five strokes behind Arkansas State University and one ahead of Middle Tennessee State University.
The Seminoles were led by sophomores Mark Donaldson and Kris Hannah. Donaldson, a native of Kirkcaldy, Scotland, fired a final-round 77 to finish at 226 and tied for 28th. Kris Hannah shot a team-low 73 today to finish tied with Donaldson and four other golfers. Freshman Matt Ackley finished the tournament with rounds of 76 and 75 to finish tied for 59th at 232. Teammate Brian Hawver finished two strokes back at 234. Junior Nathan Bertsch struggled in the first tournament of the spring, posting rounds of 87, 84 and 89 to finish alone in 96th place.
Louisiana State University led from start to finish, beating South Alabama by one stroke for the team title. UAB finished in third, eight stokes off the lead. Host institution Southern Miss finished in tenth place at 904.
Francois Nicolas of Southeastern Louisiana captured medalist honors with a final-round 73 and three-round total of 210. Brian Pool of South Alabama finished in second, four strokes off the lead.
The Seminoles will return to action in two weeks at the Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
