Men’s Golf Team To Play At Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State men’s golf team continues its spring season as it travels to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. To play in the 10th annual Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Classic at the Sawgrass Country Club Feb. 8-10. The event will be played on the Sawgrass Oceanside Course which gained its reputation as the home of the PGA Tour’s Tournament Players Championship. The Seminoles tee off in the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Classic looking for their second top-10 finish of the spring and fourth top-10 finish of the 2003-04 academic year. Florida State opened the season with a tied for seventh place finish at last week’s Gator Invitational.


THE MERCEDES-BENZ COLLEGIATE CLASSIC FIELD
Florida State is joined by No. 1 Florida, No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Georgia, No. 8 Augusta State, No. 10 North Carolina, No. 13 Oklahoma State, No. 14 Texas, No. 16 Duke, No. 22 Northwestern, No. 24 Kentucky, Auburn, Louisiana State, NC State, North Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt in the 10th annual Mercedes Benz Collegiate Classic. Augusta State won the team championship while D.J. Trahan of Clemson won individual medalist honors as last year’s tournament.


FLORIDA STATE FINISHES SEVENTH AT GATOR INVITATIONAL
The Seminoles started the spring season strong as they recorded a team total of 875 and finished in a tie for seventh in the Sun Trust Gator Invitational. Juniors Rusty Mosley (Vidalia, GA) and Matt Adcock (Apopka, FL) and freshman Bradley Ruch (Louisville, Ken.) finished tied for 20th with scores of 218 each. Ruch and sophomore Adam Wallace (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) each had second round scores of 70. Mosley and Adcock each recorded an even par 72 in the first and third rounds, respectively.


FRESHMAN RUCH PLAYS SECOND TOURNAMENT
Bradley Ruch (Louisville, Ken.) played well in his second tournament as a Seminole. He had scores of 73, 70, and 75 for his three rounds at the Gator Invitational, which earned him a tie for an eighteenth place finish. At the Landfall Tradition Ruch carded a 78, 73, and 73 in his first tournament.
