PALM CITY, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The Florida State Men’s Golf team is tied for 11th through the first round at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational that took place on Sunday afternoon at Floridian National Golf Club.
The Seminoles shot a 19-over 303 on a day where none of the field finished below par. Ten of the 14 teams competing in the tournament are ranked in the Golfstat Top 50, showing just how difficult the course has played so far.
Texas A&M leads at 4-over, followed by Wake Forest (+7), North Texas (+8), Texas (+11) and Houston (+11).
Redshirt junior Cristobal Del Solar shot a 3-over 74 to sit in 21st place, recording an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole to highlight his day. Redshirt freshman Jonathan Keppler went 4-over on Sunday, collecting four birdies.
Senior Josh Lee joined Keppler at 4-over, stringing together 13 pars on a day where anything even was a positive.
Redshirt junior Harry Ellis is tied for 59th at 8-over, while sophomore Corey Carlson is tied for 71st at 11-over.
FSU begins play on Monday at 9:36 a.m. with Carlson leading off for the Seminoles.
