Men’s Hoops Falls to Yellow Jackets, 72-59

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Matt Harpring scored 24 of his career-high 31points in the second half Wednesday to lead Georgia Tech to a 72-59 victoryover reeling Florida State.

The 6-7 Harpring hit 4 of 7 tries from 3-point distance, 9 of 10 free shotsand also pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds. Michael Maddox added 15 pointsand freshman Dion Glover 10 for the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech (17-9, 6-7 Atlantic Coast Conference) avenged a 70-67 loss athome last month to Florida State with its third straight league victory to keepits postseason tournament hopes alive.

However, they have a difficult schedule remaining with road games atMaryland and Clemson sandwiched around their home finale against Duke.

LaMarr Greer led Florida State (16-11, 5-9) with 15 points and 9 rebounds,but made only 5 of 14 shots. The Seminoles, who shot just 30 percent, have lostfour straight games and 10 of their last 15, including the worst home loss inschool history last Saturday, 78-49, to Clemson.

The Seminoles had a 31-13 rebound advantage in the first half and stilltrailed 30-25 at halftime as they shot only 27.8 percent from the floor.

Randell Jackson and Corey Louis added 11 points apiece for Florida State,which travels Saturday to Wake Forest.
