Men’s Swimmers and Coach to Participate in Goodwill Games

Don Gibb, head swimming coach at Florida State, has been appointed to serve as an assistant coach for the World All-Star Team for the 1998 Goodwill Games. The international competition will begin July 30th and end August 2nd in New York.

Joining Gibb will be a pair of standouts from the FSU men’s swimming team. Brendon Dedekind, ranked ninth in in the 50m freestyle, and Stephen Parry, ranked 11th in the 200m butterfly, were selected to compete based on their world rankings. Dedekind won the national title in the 50m freestyle this past March as he and Parry combined for three top five finishes in leading the Seminoles to a 13th-place finish overall at the NCAA Championships.
