CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Florida State men’s swimming and diving team has
taken the third spot after two days of competition at the 2000 ACC
Championships in Chapel Hill, N.C. Virginia leads the meet (520), followed
by North Carolina (417.5), Florida State (338.5) and NC State (311).
Greg Main-Baillie, Brett Petersen, Devon Crock and Kevin Flanagan started
the night for the Seminoles with a 3rd place finish in the 200 Medley Relay.
Crock then took 3rd in the 100 Fly in an NCAA Consideration time of 48.52
followed by Julian Daily, finishing 13th (49.78), Steve Forson finishing
14th (49.79) and Joey Marshburn taking 15th (50.65). Crock had another top
finish in the 100 Back, tying for 4th with Main-Baillie as Flanagan took 7th
and Forson finishing 11th. Mora then took 6th in the 200 Free in an NCAA
Consideration time of 1:39.27 and Seth Swisher taking 14th (1:41.06).
Petersen had the top finish of the night, finishing 2nd in the 100 Breast
and qualifying for the NCAA Championships with a time of 54.64 (he swam a
54.31 in the preliminaries). Justin Betts followed in the event with a 6th
place finish (56.38). Mora, Forson, Swisher and Jay McGarity took 6th in the
800 Free Relay to end the night for the Seminoles.
FSU completes competition in the ACC Championships on Saturday.
Preliminaries begin at 11:00am with the 1650 Free beginning at 5:20pm and
the finals at 7:00pm.
