Men’s Tennis At Southern Intercollegiate

ATHENS, Ga. –
The Florida State men’s tennis team scored 10 victories in first and second round singles action at the Southern Intercollegiate on Friday.


In first round singles play, Rodrigo Laub defeated Tamer Haddon of
UNC-Greensboro, 6-1, 6-2, Jarrod Owen defeated Marco Grangerlo of Georgia
Perimeter, 6-1, 6-5 (6), Reid McCree defeated Yussef Migoko of Troy State,
6-4, 6-1, Joe Bassett defeated Lee Withrow of Charleston Southern, 6-5,
6-1. Chad Mooney fell to Middle Tennessee State’s Michael Staniak, 6-1,
6-3.


In second round singles play, Xavier Luscan defeated Gilberto
Alvarez of Georgia Perimeter, 6-3, 6-4, Romain Jurd defeated Marcus Singh
of South Carolina 6-2, 6-3, Alex Herra defated Michael Witting of Mercer,
6-1, 6-4, Jeff Scarella defated Ariel Futuro of Charleston Southern, 6-2,
6-1, Jarrod Owens defeated Zakaria Bahri of Murray State, 6-3, 6-3, Joe
Bassett defeated Peter Rebseman of Samford, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3. Rodrigo Laub
fell to Middle Tennessee State’s Trevor Short but the score was not
reported. Reid McCree fell to UNC-G’s Marcio Torres, 6-2, 6-1.


Doubles results were not available. Action continues through Monday.
