Men’s Tennis to Host Notre Dame, Boston College

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 30 Florida State Seminoles (13-7, 3-3 ACC) are set to host the No. 52 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (11-8, 2-4 ACC) on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and the Boston College Eagles (4-11, 0-6 ACC) at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

The match with Notre Dame will be featured on ACC Network Extra as the USTA/ACC Match of the Week. The match is the second time the Seminoles have been featured, following a 4-0 victory at Louisville in the USTA/ACC Match of the Week on March 24.

“Notre Dame is a great opportunity to showcase how we can bounce back after a tough weekend and dominate on our home courts,” senior Jack Haffey said. “It’s always a great atmosphere to play under the lights and it’s extra special when the match is on TV. As a team we are really looking forward to a great weekend.”

The nationally-ranked Noles return to the Speicher courts looking to end a three-match skid that began with a home loss to the No. 47 UCF Knights on March 26.

Florida State is playing their third home match and fifth overall match this season on television. The Seminoles are 3-1 this year while playing on ACC Network Extra/ESPN3.

“We’re very excited to be home this weekend,” senior Jake Albo said. “It’s a great opportunity to play really big tennis in front of our great home crowd.”

The Seminoles are looking to improve on the all-time series against Notre Dame after defeating the Irish 4-3 in South Bend last season. Notre Dame holds the all-time series lead at 8-3.

After the Friday match against the Irish, the Seminoles play host to the Boston College Eagles, who have yet to gather a win in-conference. Florida State is 13-0 all-time against the Eagles.

Noles in the Polls

Following last week’s losses at Duke and UNC, Florida State experienced a short drop from No. 27 to No. 30 in the nation.

Individually, Iradukunda’s career win over No. 19 Ronnie Schneider propelled him from no. 125 in the nation to No. 78, one of the biggest movers of the week. Dougaz checks in at No. 71 to give the Seminoles a formidable one-two punch at the top of the lineup.

The doubles pair of redshirt juniors Jose Gracia and Lucas Poullain have cracked the ITA doubles rankings for the second time this season, checking in at No. 89 in the nation. Dougaz/Iradukunda hold a 10-2 record and also appeared in the ITA doubles rankings this season.
