TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Florida State men’s tennis wrapped up the final day of the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall on Sunday with two more wins.
“Overall, I am pleased with the team’s performance this weekend,” said associate coach Ryler DeHeart. “They battled through some tough conditions and kept fighting until the end. It was a good test to see where our guys stand. Now we can continue to build and improve for the upcoming tournaments. It was a great event and a fun weekend.”
With only singles play left all four Noles took the court in Tuscaloosa. Redshirt senior Jose Gracia lost to Florian Broska of Mississippi State 6-2, 6-4 and freshman Chase Wood wrapped up his first collegiate tournament with a 1-3 singles record and a doubles championship with partner Gracia.
Seniors twins, Terrance and Terrell Whitehurst, both finished off their tournament with wins. Terrell defeated Jochen Bertsch of Oklahoma in dominating fashion, 6-4, 6-0. He went 3-1 in singles over the weekend. Terrance earned a win against Mohamed Abel-Aziz of Rice after Abel-Aziz was forced to stop because of injury. Terrance went 3-1 in singles on the weekend as well.
Five Noles will be getting on the court next weekend as they compete in the ITA/Oracle All-American Qualifying and Pre-Qualifying in Tulsa, Okla.
