TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – SEBaseball.com recognized six members of the 2009 Florida State Baseball team on this year’s ACC Honor Roll. Mike Martin, Jr., was named ACC Assistant Coach of the Year, while five Seminole student-athletes earned All-ACC First Team accolades.
SEBaseball.com recognized two 15-member All-ACC teams, a Hitter, Pitcher and Freshman of the Year as well as a Head Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year on this year’s ACC Honor Roll.
Martin, Jr., concluded his 12th season as an assistant coach with the Florida State baseball team in 2009. Under his tutelage, the Seminoles hit .321 in 63 games which ranked second in the ACC. He led an offensive attack that ranked in the top 10 nationally in sacrifice flies (1st), doubles (2nd), base on balls (2nd), runs (7th) and doubles per game (10th). With Tyler Holt finishing the year with a .401 batting average, it marked the third straight season and fourth time in the last five years that a Seminole finished the year hitting over .400 with Martin, Jr., serving as the Seminole hitting coach.
A league leading five Seminoles were represented on the All-ACC First Team including Jason Stidham (2B), Stephen Cardullo (SS), Tyler Holt (OF), Mike McGee (UT) and Sean Gilmartin (SP). Third baseman Stuart Tapley received Honorable Mention honors.
