Moldovan and Clarke Close Out All-American Event

Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida State senior Mihaela Moldovan (Bucharest, Romania/Emil Racovita) and sophomore Roxanne Clarke (Cape Town, South Africa/Clapham) ended their singles and doubles stints at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. A small group of Seminoles spent a week in Los Angeles, Calif., playing against student-athletes from the top teams in the country.

Clarke lost in the first round of the qualifying tournament in straight sets to Lauren Archer from Duke, 6-3, 6-3. In doubles action, the sophomore teamed up with Moldovan, dropping a tough match to UCLA’s Bercek and Zalameda, 8-4.

Moldovan advanced from the round of 128, besting Rice’s Blari DiSesa, 6-4, 6-1. In the second round, Moldovan lost to TCU’s Helena Besovic, 6-2, 6-1.

The Tribe returns to action from October 22-25, 2004 at the Roberta Allison Fall Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
