On Monday afternoon, Florida State freshman Jacinta Monroe was named ACC Rookie of the Week, the third such honor this season for the Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. native.
Monroe averaged 11.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in two starts last week and also had six blocks. In the 63-47 win over Virginia Sunday afternoon, Monroe recorded her third double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds in just 20 minutes of play. The rookie has scored in double figures in seven of the last 10 games.
Monroe has led the Seminoles in rebounding in six games, including both games last week, and has grabbed seven or more boards in nine games. The rookie leads all league freshmen in blocked shots (43) and field goal percentage (.590), while ranks second in rebounding with 6.3 boards per game.
