The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Monday afternoon that Jacinta Monroe has been named ACC Rookie of the Week. Monroe, who earned the first weekly honor this season, captured her second nod after helping the Seminoles to a 3-0 mark and two victories over league foes Boston College and Miami.
Monroe, a native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., averaged 14.7 points and 7.0 rebounds in FSU’s three wins last week and recorded a team-best seven blocks. The newcomer started two of the three games and averaged 23.0 minutes per game, while shooting 55 percent from the field and 67 percent from the free throw line on a team-high 15 attempts from the charity stripe. She also added five steals to the effort.
Against High Point, Monroe recorded her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds. She had 14 points at Boston College and 13 points in the win over Miami.
On the season, Monroe is averaging 8.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. She has scored in double figures seven times this season, including the last three straight games. She ranks tied for first on the team with 30 blocks.
