Tallahassee, FL –
Country music star Justin Moore, whose current single “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” has spent 23 weeks among Billboard’s Top-15 and was the number one song in the country last week, will play a free concert on Kleman Plaza tonight, to open the College Kickoff Weekend at Florida State University.
FSU Athletics teamed with FSU’s Student Government Association, Seminole Student Boosters and 94.9 WTNT to book the kickoff concert for the first of seven Friday Night Block Parties in 2011 presented by Kia AutoSport and State Farm Insurance.
Moore burst onto the country music scene with huge hits in 2009 that included “Small Town USA” and “Backwoods” both of which were Top-15 songs and established him as one of the bright young stars of country music. Moore has been featured in profile stories in People Magazine, Billboard Magazine and The Washington Post. He has toured with Trace Adkins, Hank Williams, Jr., and Lynyrd Skynyrd along with opening for ZZ Top, Brooks & Dunn and Kenny Chesney among others.
The Justin Moore concert at Kleman Plaza is just the start of the College Kickoff Weekend. Activities are planned throughout Saturday afternoon at Doak Campbell Stadium with the Seminoles’ kickoff against Louisiana-Monroe set for 3:30 p.m.
Florida State’s Hall of Fame class, which will include football stars Chris Weinke and Sam Cowart, will be recognized at the game and fans in attendance will be a part of the retirement of former FSU and NFL star Terrell Buckley’s jersey.
