April 10, 2004

OPELIKA, Ala. –
Junior Rusty Mosley is in a tie for 15th in the individual standings and the Florida State men’s golf team is in a tie for fifth in the team standings after the first two rounds of the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate men’s golf tournament at Saugahatachee Country Club. Mosley is looking to keep the Seminoles in contention for their first top-five team finish since the 2001 spring season when they finished third at the Cavalier Classic.

Mosley, who carded a career best 67 in Friday’s first round, is two strokes over par with a 36-hole total of 146. After finishing tied for 18th in last week’s Atlanta Intercollegiate, Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) is looking for his fourth top-20 individual finish of the spring season. Mosley finished in a career-best tied for 10th place at the Gary Koch Intercollegiate during the fall of 2002.

Junior Alan Beers (Warner Robins, Ga.) led the Seminoles in round two with an even par score of 72. Beers is in a tie for 22nd in the individual standings and looking for his first top-25 individual finish of his career. Beers is tied with teammate Bradley Ruch (Louisville, Ken.) as both players have identical two-round scores of 147. Ruch carded a three-over par 75 during the second 18 holes of the event.

Junior Mark Sestilio (Punta Gorda, Fla.) is in a tie for 30th place and junior Matt Adcock (Apoka, Fla.) is in a tie for 39th place in the individual standings. A fifth Seminole junior in the event is Gonzalo Ibarraran (Coahuila, Mexico), who is competing as an individual. He is tied for 62nd in the standings.

Auburn, the host school, moved into first place in the team standings with a four-under par team score in the second round. The Tigers lead second place Memphis by seven strokes and fifth-place Florida State by 15 strokes. Auburn’s Jonathan Dismuke is the individual leader with a two-round total of 138.

The final round of the tournament begins at 7:20 local time Sunday.
