Mosley Leads Seminole Men’s Golf Team At Atlanta Intercollegiate

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. –
Florida State University junior Rusty Mosley carded a two-under par 70 in the second round and is in a tie for 20th place in the individual standings after 36 holes of the Atlanta Intercollegiate at Eagle’s Landing Country Club. Mosley carded a one-under par total of 143 in the two rounds played Monday and is only eight strokes off the pace set by Jack Ferguson of Clemson who carded a nine-under par 135. The Seminoles are in 11th place in the team standings.


Florida, the nation’s No. 1 ranked team, is in first place in the team standings heading into Tuesday’s third and final round. The Gators’ second round score of 276 not only vaulted them into the team lead, but tied the tournament record for lowest team second round score, a record the Gators set last year. Clemson is ten strokes behind after shooting 565 while Georgia carded 566 for third. South Carolina is in fourth after carding 567 and leading after the first round. Ferguson, the current medalist carded a 70 in round one and a 65 over the second 18 holes.


Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) has put himself in position to earn his third top-20 individual finish in four events this spring with his play covering the first 36 holes. He second round score of two-under par 70 is tied for the third lowest single round score during his collegiate career. Mosley’s shot a career-low 69 at the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions during the fall of 2000. He begins the third round only three strokes from moving into the top five of the individual standings.


Freshman Bradley Ruch (Louisville, Ken.) carded the best round of the day for the Seminoles as he finished with a three-under par 69 – a career low — in round two. Coupled with his first round score of 79, the Seminole newcomer is in a tie for 41st place with a total of 148. Ruch moved up 18 spots in the individual standings after finishing the first 18 holes in a tie for 59th place.


Juniors Matt Adcock (Apopka, Fla.), Mark Sestilio (Punta Gorda, Fla.) and Alan Beers (Warner Robbins, Fla.) are also competing for the Seminoles. Florida State finished in a tied for seventh place at the Gator Invitational and in sixth place at the Seminole Intercollegiate.


The final round of competition will begin on Tuesday at 8 a.m. at Eagle’s Landing Country Club.
