Mosley Shoots Seminoles Into Third Place At Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate

April 9, 2004

OPELIKA, Ala. –
Florida State senior Rusty Mosley shot a career-best five under par 67 and is tied for first in the individual standings and the Seminole men’s golf team is in third place after the first round of the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate at Saugahatchee Country Club. Mosley’s individual score is the best single round score by a Florida State golfer since Christian Raynor shot a six-under par 66 in the second round of the Wofford Invitational May 13, 1995.

Mosley’s career-best 67 beat by one stroke his previous best of 68 during the third round of the Mason Rudolph Collegiate Championship during the fall of 2002. He is in contention to earn the first individual victory of his career. Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) has now shot two of his last three rounds under par after carding a two-under par 70 in the second round of the Atlanta Intercollegiate March 29.

Seminole junior Mark Sestilio (Punta Gorda, Fla.) also played well as he carded an even par 72 – his best round of the spring 2003 season and best since finishing with a two-under par 70 during the second round of the fall 2002 Gary Koch Intercollegiate. Freshman Bradley Ruch (Louisville, Ken.) also carded an even par 72 to mark his team-leading 12th score of 75 or better this spring. Sestilio and Ruch are tied for 16th in the individual standings.

Also tied in the individual standings are Florida State juniors Alan Beers and Matt Adcock. Beers (Warner Robins, Ga.) and Adcock (Apopka, Fla.) are tied for 37th with identical scores of three-over par 75.

The Seminoles are in third place in the team standings with an 18-hole total of 286. Their two-under par score is the team’s second best team score of the spring season. It is rivaled only by a 284 during the second round of the Gator Invitational in February.

Saturday’s second round begins at 7:50 a.m. local time with al golfers teeing off from the first tee. Sunday’s final round will have split tee (one and ten) starting at 7:50 am.
