It’s time to find out which town in North Florida and South Georgia is the best at supporting Florida State football and its 2012 quest for a championship.
This summer, FSU football fans have the opportunity to share their love for the garnet and gold by competing against surrounding towns in the Seminoles’ “My Town My Team” promotion.
On Aug. 13, the winning town will be announced. A few weeks later the victorious community will then receive a special in-town visit from the Seminoles, recognition at FSU’s Sept. 1 season-opener at Doak Campbell Stadium and an honorary game ball given to its mayor on Bobby Bowden Field before the game.
A special billboard will be erected within the city limits of the winning town as well.
Now that you know what’s at stake, it’s time to start competing and showing what your town is made of.
To get started, click the graphic below to be linked to the official Florida State Seminoles Facebook page. There you’ll be able to upload a photo showing your support of the Seminoles in your town.
Encourage your neighbors and friends in town to do the same and spread the word for a better chance at winning. On Twitter use the hashtag #MyTownMyTeam and include the name of your town to spread the Seminole spirit (for example: #MyTownMyTeam Thomasville).
“This is an opportunity for our great fans in neighboring communities to bring Florida State closer to their home and to really kickoff the start of a new football season,” FSU Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing Jason Dennard said.
To determine a winner, points will be given to each town based on number of fan-support photos submitted as well as number of tweets using the special hashtag. Number of likes from each town on the “My Town My Team” Facebook tab and number of groups and/or single tickets sold or already purchased per town will also be counted.
Additional points will be given to those towns whose fans think of creative ways to go above and beyond the points criteria already listed.
