TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Senior sprinter Chad Mylin and freshman diver Joshua Davidson were recognized by the ACC as the Male Swimmer and Diver of the Week on Tuesday.
Mylin earns his first ACC Male Swimmer of the Week honor this season after turning in a pair of runner up finishes in Friday’s Fresh from Florida Sunshine Showdown against sixth-ranked Florida.
Individually, Mylin was second in the 50 free, touching with a time of 19.75 – which was his best dual meet performance in the race this season. He also finished just behind, UF’s World Champion Caeleb Dressel (19.40).
Mylin also contributed on both relays, first helping the Noles take second in the 200 medley relay with a 22.47 leadoff backstroke split. He then led off the ‘B’ team of the 400 free relay, splitting a mark of 44.74.
“I’m very excited for Chad,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “He has become a very consistent performer for us in his final season.”
Davidson won his second ACC Male Diver of the Week after leading a dominating Florida State performance on the boards where the Noles outscored the Gators 30-8.
In the opening 1-meter event, Davidson was the lone diver above the 300-point barrier, winning the event by almost 24 points with a score of 318.23. Later, he helped FSU sweep 3-meter, scoring a total of 355.58.
“Josh is the type of guy you want to have on your team,” FSU head diving coach John Proctor said. “He’s worked hard in every practice to get better and he’s really in a good spot heading into the meat of the season. I am really excited to see what he can do in the next few months.”
Florida State will face (20/17) Alabama and Miami on Friday at 12 p.m. at the Morcom Aquatics Center.
