TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A day after receiving national accolades from Soccer America and TopDrawerSoccer.com, the honors continue to mount for Tiffany McCarty adding two more awards on Wednesday. The freshman forward was named Player of the Week by SoccerFLA.com while earning National Team of the Week honors by Soccer Buzz.
McCarty, who started both games for the Seminoles over the weekend, compiled 111 combined minutes of action on the pitch as Florida State rolled to victories over Penn State and Connecticut.
The Laurel, Md., native opened the weekend against the Nittany Lions with five points on two goals and an assist. McCarty assisted on the first goal and then solidified the Seminole victory netting the final two goals of the game.
The freshman forward followed up Friday’s performance with an assist in Sunday’s win over Connecticut. Off a deep throw-in from Jessica Price, McCarty sent a header to the top of the goal box where Lauren Switzer one-timed a shot for the goal.
McCarty finished the weekend with three shots including two shots on goal. She currently leads the team with six points.
McCarty and the Seminoles return to action on Friday, September 5 at 7:00 pm when Florida State welcomes Florida International to the Seminole Soccer Complex. Fans can catch all the action over the internet as the game will be shown live on ACC Select. FSU will then host inter-state rival Florida on Sunday, September 7 at 4:30 p.m. The game between the Seminoles and Gators will air live across the entire state on FSN Florida. Admission to all home games is free.
