TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – The nationally-ranked Florida State University indoor volleyball team will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Volleyball Championship for the second time in the last three seasons, being placed once again in the Minneapolis Regional.
Included in FSU’s four-team quadrant in Tallahassee is first-round opponent Albany (21-8) out of the America East Conference, BIG EAST Conference champion Cincinnati (26-9) as well as Southern Conference champion Samford (29-4).
FSU will face Albany for the second time this season on Friday, Dec. 2, at Tully Gym, while Cincinnati and Samford will also face off on that day. The winners of both matches will play in the second round on Saturday for the chance to earn a Sweet 16 berth in Minneapolis, Minn.
Cincinnati and Samford’s opening-round matchup will take place on Friday at 4:30 p.m. The Seminoles will then face Albany at 7 p.m. Saturday’s second-round matchup will occur at 6 p.m.
The Seminoles are making their 14th appearance in the NCAA Championship, including their third consecutive trip to the postseason. Two seasons ago, FSU was also placed in the Minneapolis Regional and made the school’s first-ever appearance in the Elite Eight.
The Atlantic Coast Conference had four teams make the Field of 64, including FSU, Miami, Duke and North Carolina.
Ticket information for first and second-round matchups in Tallahassee will be released in the upcoming week, as well as other pertinent information surrounding the NCAA Championship.
