The 2010 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships scheduled to begin Thursday, March 25 have been pushed back 24 hours and will begin Friday, March 26 in Columbus, Ohio on the campus of The Ohio State University.
According to a statement released by the NCAA and Ohio State eighteen student-athletes and one coach have been treated at the Ohio State University Medical Center and the Ohio State Sports Medicine Center for a possible gastrointestinal illness. All of the individuals are in Columbus to participate in the NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships.
No Florida State athletes or coaches were are among those treated.
At this time The NCAA, the OSU Medical Center, Ohio State University officials and the local Ohio health department are working on the issue. Although the championship venue and facilities have been investigated and approved for use, according to Ohio State Assistant Director of Athletics Communication Jerry Emig “the decision to delay the start 24 hours came down from the NCAA [and] the coaches were informed of the decision Wednesday night.”
Florida State’s updated schedule of events for the meet is as follows:
Ian Rowe- 400 IM
Rob Holderness- 100 breast
Andy Hodgson– 100 back
Terry Horner, Landon Marzullo- Three-meter dive
Ian Rowe- 1650 free
Andy Hodgson- 200 back
Rob Holderness- 200 breast
Terry Horner, Landon Marzullo- Platform dive
