NCAA Women’s Golf Championship Second Round Suspended Because of Weather

May 19, 2004

Opelika, Ala. –
The second round of the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship at the Grand National Golf Course was suspended because of thunderstorms which blanketed the area late Wednesday. Only 12 of the 24 teams, including Florida State, were able to complete play in the round. Because the round was not finished nether final individual or team placements could be determined. The second round will be completed beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday morning with the third round beginning soon after the completion of that round.

The Seminoles will tee off at approximately 9:00 a.m. and are paired with Arizona and Arizona State.

Senior Alison Curdt continued to lead the Florida State and has a 148 total for the first 36 holes played. The Seminoles finished with a 301 team total – identical to their first round score – and have a 602 total heading into Thursday’s third round. The Seminoles played in the morning wave Wednesday and completed play in the early afternoon before the weather ventured into the area.

Florida State was in eighth place in the team standings and Curdt was in a tie for second place in the individual standings after the first 18 holes.
