#1 FLORIDA STATE (40-8-1, 13-5 ACC)
The No. 1 ranked Seminoles travel to Jacksonville Tuesday night after taking two of three from then-No. 10 Georgia Tech over the weekend. Freshman RHP Mark Sauls (3-0, 2.45 ERA) will take the mound for Florida State. Tuesday’s game is the make-up game from the April 9th contest that was canceled due to weather. Shortstop Stephen Drew had his best outing of the season on Sunday against the Yellow Jackets, belting two home runs and tying a career high with five RBI, while going 3-for-5 in the Seminoles 12-7 victory. Right fielder Blake Balkcom also had a big series, going 5-for-11 (.455) with two home runs and a double. The Seminoles took over sole posession of first place in the ACC with the series win, while then-No. 5 NC State lost two of three at Maryland. Florida State is on the road for the next two weeks (7 total games) before heading to Salem, Virginia for the ACC Tournament.
JACKSONVILLE (24-24, 15-15 A-SUN)
Jacksonville lost two of three to No. 11 Florida Atlantic over the weekend (W, 7-6, L, 5-4, L, 3-2). Jacksonville is led offensively by LF Chad Hauseman (.407, 16 HR, 35 RBI). The Dolphins will start RHP Ryan Courson (1-3, 4.46 ERA) and RHP Josh Deel (3-4, 4.73 ERA) is expected to see time as well.
Florida State leads the all-time series with Jacksonville, 92-30, which dates back to 1964. The Seminoles won three of four vs. JU last year and defeated the Dolphins 5-4 back on April 16th in Tallahassee. Chris Hart was 2-for-2 with two doubles and what would have been a career-high five RBI before the rainout on April 9th.
