No.1 FSU Comes Back to Beat Washington State

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Second baseman Marshall McDougall drove in three runs as he led No. 1 Florida State (16-3) to an 8-5 come-from-behind win over Washington State at the Hormel Foods Classic.

McDougall was named the tournament’s most valuable player for his efforts.

Right-hander Chris Whidden (2-0) earned the win in relief after pitching the eighth inning and left-hander Mike DiBlasi struck out the side in the ninth for his fourth save of the seson.

Right-hander Blair Varnes struck out five batters in five innings pitched in the no-decision. Varnes did not give up an earned run and surrendered six hits and one walk.
