TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The 10th-ranked Florida State baseball team will host five games at Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium this week, including a two-game midweek series that features the Seminoles (23-11) and intrastate rival Stetson (17-18). The first game takes place on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a 4 p.m. game on Wednesday.
Florida State has a 57-22 (.721 winning percentage) all-time mark against the Hatters, including a 35-13 record in Tallahassee. The Seminoles have won the last nine straight games in the series, dating back to a 5-3 victory at home on March 19, 2013, and have posted seven straight home wins beginning with a 13-1 triumph on March 20, 2012.
FSU is looking to improve on its 18-6 record at home this season after suffering setbacks in a pair of games at Wake Forest over the weekend. Meanwhile, Stetson is 3-9 on the road, following a recent sweep at North Florida where the Hatters were outscored a combined 16-5.
Freshman lefty hurler Tyler Holton (0-2, 3.86 ERA) will make his third start of the season for FSU Head Coach Mike Martin on Tuesday evening, while the Hatters send right-hander Joey Gonzalez (3-0, 3.32) to the mound.
When the two teams return to action on Wednesday afternoon, Andrew Karp (0-0, 12.60 ERA) making his first collegiate start for the Seminoles against Stetson’s Adam Schaly (1-2, 4.72).
Both games are being broadcast on NolesTV with commentary from Shawn Davison (play-by-play) and Matt McMahon (color) on Tuesday. Wednesday’s broadcast will include play-by-play from Davison and color commentary by Jason Leturmy.
