TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 12 ranked Florida State men’s tennis team (14-1) heads on the road to begin their ACC schedule as they take on No. 50 Clemson (6-1) Friday, March 2nd in Athens, Ga. on the University of Georgia’s tennis courts at 1:00 p.m.
Florida State is 22-19 all-time against the Tigers with their last win coming one season ago when the Seminoles took down Clemson 6-1 in Tallahassee. The Garnet and Gold have outscored the Tigers 156-127 in their 41 meetings including five shutout wins. Clemson is led by sophomore Simon Baudry and senior Alex Favort, who is the No. 64 ranked singles player in the country. The Clemson duo has combined for a 5-1 record on court one and Baudry has gone 3-1 on court two. The pair has also gone 3-1 in doubles on court one and is ranked No. 46 in the country. The Tigers have won five of their possible seven doubles points this season.
Last Time Out
Florida State was last on the court last Saturday as they took on New Orleans and Liberty in a doubleheader. The Seminoles shut out both of their opponents 4-0. The Seminoles were led by freshman Sebastian Arcila and sophomore Rana-Roop Singh Bhullar, who both went 2-0 in singles on the weekend. Arcila also went 2-0 in doubles with sophomore Alex Knaff.

Poullain Earns ACC Honors
For the fourth time this season the Seminoles took home an ACC Honor, this time it was Co-Player of the Week. After a 2-0 weekend as a team and a 1-0 weekend in both singles and doubles from Florida State’s redshirt senior No. 53 Lucas Poullain earned ACC Co-Player of the Week.
Noles in the Polls
In the latest Oracle/ITA poll, Florida State comes in at No. 12. This marks the 17th straight week that the Noles have been ranked in the ITA Poll dating back to February 27, 2017. The Seminoles are also ranked No. 12 in the USTA poll.
The Seminoles are one of six schools to have at least seven singles players and doubles pairs ranked, and one of two to have four doubles pairs ranked. They have three ranked singles players and four doubles pairs. Senior Guy Iradukunda leads off the pack coming in at No. 12, redshirt senior Lucas Poullain comes in at No. 53 and sophomore Alex Knaff comes in at No. 93. The duo of Jose Gracia and Lucas Poullain leads the group of doubles pairs coming in at No. 14 in doubles. They are followed by Guy Iradukunda and Alex Knaff at No. 19, Iradukunda and Dougaz at No. 35 and Terrance and Terrell Whitehurst at No. 52.
