No. 13 Florida State Men’s Tennis Begin Road Campaign With Notre Dame And Ohio State

Tallahassee, Fla. –

On their first away match of the dual season, Florida State men’s tennis will travel to the University of Notre Dame to take on the No. 11 ranked Fighting Irish, Friday at 4:00 p.m. Weather permitting, matches will be held at the Courtney Tennis Center or if necessary, moved indoors to the Eck Tennis Pavilion. The two teams last met March 14, 2006 when the Seminoles fell at home to No. 20 Notre Dame 4-3.

Live Stats of the match will be available to viewers this Friday on Notre Dame’s Athletics website, www.und.com.

On Sunday, the Seminoles will continue their road trip taking on No. 3 Ohio State where the Buckeyes hold a 43 home match winning streak. The two teams last met on March 4, 2006 where the Buckeyes defeated the Seminoles at home 4-1.

Last Weekend: Florida State continued its winning streak last weekend as they posted a 3-0 mark and improved the overall season record to 5-0. On Saturday, the Seminoles defeated Florida Atlantic 5-0 and earned a doubles victory over Georgia State. Sunday morning completed the Georgia State contest with a 4-1 victory at home and later that afternoon, a 5-0 win over the Furman Paladins.

Seminoles Jump to No. 13 in the Nation: On Tuesday, January 30, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the updated Division I National Poll ranking Florida State men’s tennis at number 11 in the nation, a two spot jump since the January 9 preseason poll marking Florida State at No. 15.

Next Home Match: Florida State will return to the Scott Speicher Tennis Center on February 17 to take on the Florida Gators at 1:00 p.m. Due to bad weather in Gainesville, the Seminoles and Gators never met in the 2005-2006 dual season. The two teams last met February 5, 2005 in Tallahassee where the No. 3 ranked Gators defeated No. 40 Florida State with an overall score 4-3.
