TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 13 Florida State volleyball team continued its Atlantic Coast Conference domination Friday night with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-21) sweep over visiting Virginia.

With the win, the Seminoles (10-2, 2-0 ACC) have now won 18-straight ACC matches dating back to last season and 34 of the 42 conference matches since head coach Chris Poole took over the program prior to the start of the 2008 campaign.

FSU, which set the school records last season for most league wins overall and league wins in a row, has now swept the Cavaliers (6-6, 0-2) four consecutive times.

“We came out with great intensity tonight,” Poole said. “Virginia is a very good team and we had to push through there in the second set. I was happy we were able to close it out in the third when they had kept it close.”

Jekaterina Stephanova led all players with a game-high 13 kills for the Seminoles while Visnja Djurdjevic posted eight of her own.

Rachael Morgan had six kills and Stephanie Neville added five. Defensively, Djurdjevic achieved double-digits digs (15) to go with her double-digit kills. Jenna Romanelli also contributed 13 digs.

Patricia Figueiredo had 16 assists and Duygu Duzceler registered 15.

FSU ran away with the first set but found the second game tied at 13-13 before ultimately pushing through for the victory.

In the third and final set, the Seminoles couldn’t quite shake the Cavaliers. Up by just one point at 11-10, a Morgan kill and quick Djurdjevic ace helped spark 7-1 FSU run.

Virginia kept it interesting, however, and clawed back to within three at 24-21. They wouldn’t get any closer as Morgan finished the match with a kill.

Next up for the ‘Noles is a home match against Virginia Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m. FSU won both of its matches against the Hokies last season.
