No. 15 Seminole Women’s Golf Team Moves Into Fourth Place Tie At Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. –
The No. 15 ranked Florida State University women’s golf team moved into a tie for fourth place in the team standings and Seminole senior Kristin Tamulis is also in a tie for fourth place in the individual standings after the second round of the Franklin Street Trust/Tar Heel Invitational at Finley Golf Course. The move into fourth place represents a jump of two positions in the team standings for the Seminoles who trail North Carolina by only one stroke for third place.


Florida State, ranked 15th in the nation in this week’s GolfWeek/Sagarin Rankings, posted a team total of 293 in the second round. The Seminoles’ 293 team score was tied for the third-lowest team score of the second round. Florida State is tied with No. 8 Ohio State and one stroke behind No. 23 North Carolina. No. 5 Duke leads the event with top ranked Oklahoma State in second place.


Tamulis (Naples, Fla.) carded a three-over par 75 in the second round and is in a three-way tie for third place with a two-day total of 145. Tamulis carded a career-low tying 70 in Friday’s first round. She is only three strokes behind Ohio State’s Kristin White who currently sits in second place and is only one stroke behind South Carolina’s Kristy McPherson who is in third place.


Duke’s Liz Janangelo leads the individual standings with a 36-hole total of 136. She has carded two sub-par rounds of 67 and 68.


Florida State junior Alison Curdt (St. Louis, Mo.) carded her collegiate career-low of three-under par 69 in the second round. She is now in a tie for 11th-place and is only two strokes behind Tamulis and the pack of golfers ranked in the top four of the individual standings. Curdt moved up 39 positions from 50th after the first round of the event.


Each of Florida State’s top four golfers are in the top-40 in the individual standings. In addition to Tamulis and Curdt, juniors Katie Quinney (Atlantic Beach, Fla.) and Carrie Sordel (Windermere, Fla.) are in 28th and 38th place respectively.


The third a final round of the event, a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m., is set for Sunday.
