TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 16 Florida State Seminoles (9-4, 7-1 ACC) worked out in full pads Friday in Doak Campbell Stadium as they prepared for their New Year’s Day match-up with No. 4 Georgia (11-1, 7-1 SEC). The team will hold a short, hour-long practice on Saturday morning before breaking for the holidays. FSU departs for New Orleans via charter on December 26th. The Seminoles will practice that afternoon at Tulane.
“We went out in pads because we needed to get some of the physical stuff in,” said associate head coach Mickey Andrews. “We’ve got some guys with some bumps and bruises so they had to push themselves through a little pain. Tomorrow’s practice will be in shorts to review the game plan.”
Head coach Bobby Bowden left immediately after practice to catch a flight to visit a recruit.
During 11-on-11 scrimmaging, freshmen tailbacks Thomas Clayton and Leon Washington each broke off a run of 20+ yards. Sophomore quarterback Fabian Walker closed the day’s practice with a 40-yard scoring strike to junior Anquan Boldin.
The Nokia Sugar Bowl will be televised live by ABC on January 1st at 8:30 p.m. EST.
