TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 18-ranked Florida State women’s basketball team returns home to the Donald L. Tucker Center this week following a two-game road split at Georgia Tech and No. 8 Maryland.

The Seminoles (12-2, 2-1 in the ACC) host Wake Forest on Thursday at 7 p.m. (ESPN3) and No. 24 Miami on Sunday at 3 p.m. (RSN-TV).

“It’s always tough to play any game in the ACC,” Florida State head coach Sue Semrau said. “To have the opportunity to play two in a row at home is a big deal, and one I hope we take advantage of. It’s great to be back in Tallahassee.”

Since the start of ACC play, the Nole have seen in increase in senior point guard Morgan Toles’ production. She is averaging 11 points and 5.6 rebounds, while shooting 63 percent in three conference games. Toles scored 18 points, dished 10 assists and had zero turnovers in FSU’s 85-78 win over Georgia Tech. Junior forward Natasha Howard added 18 points and a career-best 18 rebounds against the Yellow Jackets, while senior guard Leonor Rodriguez recorded her fifth 20-point game (23 points) of the season.

Florida State came out slow against Maryland in College Park, Md., on Sunday, but closed a 16-point halftime deficit to just three points in the last two minutes of the game before falling, 71-64.

“Maryland, for us, was a very good learning experience,” Semrau said. “They are a Top 10 team, and having a chance on their court at the end was big for us. I think it’s a lesson learned, and it will make us better going forward.”

Wake Forest brings a three-game win streak to Tallahassee and similar style of play to the Seminoles with a pair of quick talented guards in Lakevia Boykin (14.5 ppg, .485 three-point percentage) and Chelsea Douglas (13.5 ppg).

“Both teams thrive in an uptempo environment,” Semrau said. “Both teams like to press. I think it’s going to be an exciting basketball game.”

Led by Boykin’s 20 points and four treys, the Demon Deacons defeated the Seminoles, 65-55, in Winston-Salem, N.C. last season.

The last time Wake Forest came to Tallahassee, however, Florida State routed its conference opponent, 83-38, as the Deacons shot just 1-of-24 from three. Chasity Clayton had a double-double (16 points, 10 boards) in that game on Feb. 7, 2010.
