No. 18 Women’s Tennis Hosts Florida A&M and Virginia Tech For Senior Day

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –The No. 18 Florida State women’s tennis team (14-7, 6-5 ACC) is coming off a perfect 2-0 weekend and are home for two more as they finish up their home schedule on Friday, April 13th. The Seminoles take on Florida A&M (2-13) at 10 a.m. and then Virginia Tech (12-7, 3-7 ACC) at 4 p.m. for their senior day match. Florida State will be celebrating the accomplishments of their lone senior Gabriella Castaneda.

The Seminoles lead the all-time series against Virginia Tech 17-3. Under head coach Jennifer Hyde the Seminoles have defeated the Hokies 12 times including six shutout wins. In their 14 meetings under coach Hyde, Florida State has outscored Virginia Tech 69-20. The Hokies are led by No. 62 Natalie Novotna on court one. She holds a 14-5 record with all her matches on court one and has amassed a 6-5 record against ranked opponents.

The Garnet and Gold are a perfect 17-0 against the Rattlers.

In the latest ITA poll, Florida State comes in at No. 18. In the USTA top-25, Florida State comes in at No. 16. The Seminoles also have two ranked singles players and two ranked Doubles pairs. The duo of sophomore Andrea Garcia and freshman Petra Hule are ranked No. 56 and the pair of Carla Touly and Ariana Rahmanparast are ranked No. 63. Touly is ranked No. 21 in singles and Hule is ranked No. 97 in this week’s Oracle/ITA rankings.
