No. 2 Seminoles Prep for Fiesta Bowl
December 16, 1998

TALLAHASSEE, FL–The second-ranked Florida State Seminoles continued
preparation for the National Championship game in the Fiesta Bowl with an
18-period practice in full pads this afternoon.

The Seminoles began the session with specialty drills before breaking
into team drills against the scout squad. Practice ended with 15 minutes
of 11-of-11 which was highlighted by a Peter Warrick touchdown catch.

Head coach Bobby Bowden missed most of practice after attempting to
attend a press conference in Tempe, Ariz., today. Bowden flew to Atlanta,
but missed his connection to Pheonix. He came back to Tallahassee and
participated in the press conference by telephone until 3:00 p.m. He saw
the final three periods of practice.

Florida State will practice until Saturday, December 19th and then break
for the holidays. The team will return to Tallahassee to practice on
December 26th before leaving for the Fiesta Bowl on December 28th.

Bowden talked about Marcus Outzen following today’s practice.

“I don’t think pressure can get to him (Outzen),” said Bowden.
“Inexperience can get to him. He’s got a lot of confidence. He’s like
‘Just give me a chance.’ He’s going to have some negative plays, but he’s
making more positive than negative.”
