No. 2 Seminoles Wrap Up ACC Season With UNC

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Already clinching its fifth-consecutive ACC regular season title and the No. 1 seed at the 2017 ACC Championships, No. 2 Florida State (44-3-1, 21-0 ACC) will wrap up its conference slate this weekend, hosting North Carolina (36-15, 14-6 ACC) for a three-game series on April 28-30 on JoAnne Graf Field.

The weekend will consist of several special events as Friday’s 6:00 p.m. game will be FSU softball’s annual Military Appreciation Game, with members of all branches of the military throwing out ceremonial first pitches. Saturday’s 1:00 p.m. game will be Youth Day, where there will be a clinic on the field for children 13 and under following the game.

Sunday will be the Senior Day celebration, where the five seniors – Sydney Broderick, Jessica Burroughs, Ellie Cooper, Lauren Harris and Alex Powers – will be honored prior to the 12:00 pm. first pitch, as well as throughout the game.

“This senior class, it has been awesome to see them grow up,” said FSU head coach Lonni Alameda. “As a coach, sometimes you feel like a proud parent seeing them learn and grow. But what I’m most proud of is their ability to lead this season and teach the underclassmen what they’ve learned so that they can continue to grow the program.”

The Seminoles lead the all-time series with North Carolina, 67-24, and have won each of the last 11 games against the Tar Heels.

FSU’s 21 conference wins already ranks in a tie for second-best in a single season in ACC history and has clinched the 2017 ACC regular season championship.

The Noles have won 23 consecutive ACC games, matching a program and ACC record, last losing a conference game on May 7, 2016 to Louisville (4-0).

Florida State is unbeaten in its last 40 conference series, posting a 36-0-4 mark against ACC foes, including 30 sweeps. The Seminoles are 104-10 in their last 114 ACC regular season games (.912%) and last lost a conference series at Maryland on May 5-6, 2012.

Admission is free for all home regular season games, while fans will be able to get more information about our upcoming Premium Seat Membership Program, where seats in the newly-shaded center section of the grandstand will be sold for $150/seat, beginning in the 2018 season for Dugout Club members.
