No. 22 Florida State Holds Monday Practice for No. 11 Florida

Nov. 25, 2002

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 22 Florida State Seminoles (8-4, 7-1 ACC) worked out under the lights Monday night as they begin to prepare for this Saturday’s season finale against the No. 11 Florida Gators (8-3, 6-2 SEC). FSU worked out for approximately one hour in shorts and sweat pants as they corrected mistakes from the NC State game and started to take a look at Gator scout teams.

“It was a typical Monday practice,” said head coach Bobby Bowden. “We met with our kids inside and then came out for flex. I thought they had pretty good spirit coming off a loss.”

Sophomore quarterback Chris Rix worked with the No. offense. He will backed up by sophomore Fabian Walker this weekend.

“I didn’t see any difference in Chris,” said Bowden. “I expect a smooth transition.”

Florida State has not lost to Florida in the last seven meetings in Tallahassee. The Seminoles have gone 6-0-1 against the Gators in Doak Campbell Stadium with Florida’s last win coming in 1986. FSU had won three straight over UF before losing last year in Gainesville.

Junior linebacker Michael Boulware was named ACC defensive back of the week after recording a career-high 16 tackles and returning a fumble for a touchdown at NC State. Three FSU seniors (offensive tackle Brett Williams, offensive guard Montrae Holland and defensive end Alonzo Jackson) were named to the All-ACC first team.

Saturday’s game against Florida is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start and will be televised by ABC.
