No. 25 FSU Softball Scheduled For 20 Regular Season Games On Sun Sports and ACC Select

Feb. 1, 2007

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –

For the last three seasons Florida State has been on the cutting edge of softball coverage as the Seminoles were one of the pioneering schools to broadcast their games on the internet. No. 25 Florida State continues to remain at the forefront for the 2007 season as 20 regular season games will be broadcast this year either by Sun Sports or on the internet through ACC Select streaming video.

“Streaming video is another step for our sport to get some exposure,” FSU head coach Dr. JoAnne Graf said. “This is a good avenue for us with recruiting to showcase the style of play at Florida State and it gives the parents of our players an opportunity to watch their kids if they’re away from home. It’s really a win-win situation for both the program and the spectators.”

The Seminoles will make their first appearance on television March 31 when Sun Sports carries both games of the 12 p.m. doubleheader with Maryland. Four days later, Florida State will be back on the network as it travels to instate rival Florida for a 4 p.m. twinbill that will be broadcast live.

The 2006-07 school year marks the beginning of a partnership between the ACC and Turner Broadcasting to show broadcasts of sports over the internet through streaming video. In addition, every game of the 2007 ACC Softball Tournament, May 10-13 in Tallahassee, will be covered by ACC Select.

Softball fans won’t have to wait long to see the Seminoles as ACC Select will broadcast the season opener versus Samford on Friday, February 9, at 4 p.m. FSU is back on the air February 17 as it takes on South Carolina (2:30 p.m.) and Memphis (5 p.m.) during the Sunshine State Tournament.

The marquee event for this year’s ACC broadcasts is the February 28 doubleheader against 2005 National Champion Michigan. The Wolverines are ranked 11th to start the season.

Within the league schedule, FSU’s March 24 doubleheader with Virginia Tech will be shown on ACC Select as well as all three games of the Virginia series (April 21-22). Fans can keep up with the Seminoles on the road as their April 7 doubleheader at Georgia Tech and April 14 double dip at Boston College will be broadcast by ACC Select.

In addition, more than 30 games will have streaming audio broadcasts as FSU play-by-play man Craig “Campo” Campanozzi is back for his fourth season the air with FSU softball. Campanozzi will also be handling the broadcast of all the home games on ACC Select.
