TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Lady Seminoles swimming and diving team earned their 12th victory of the season, the second highest win total in school history, in their final dual meet of the 2003 season by defeating Louisiana State Saturday afternoon, 136-104, at the Bobby E. Leach Center. Prior to the start of the meet, seniors Margaret Colley, Betsy Nagy and Elizabeth Parkinson were honored as part of the Senior Day festivities.
Sophomore Emily Breen earned wins in three events for the Lady Seminoles by winning the 100-yard freestyle and two relay events. In total, FSU scored victories in nine of the day’s 13 events.
The 400-medley relay squad of Breen, juniors Emma Dutton and Rachel Dong and Parkinson began the dual meet with a winning time of 3:48.89. In addition, the 400-free relay team of Parkinson, Breen, sophomore Jennie Lyes and Dong ended the meet with a victory at 3:30.19.
Dutton and Lyes added victories in the 200-IM (2:05.72) and 50-free (23.92), respectively. Junior Loren Hansen turned in two victories by winning the 200-free (1:50.83) and 200-butterfly (2:03.60).
In diving action, sophomore Tiffany Manning won the three-meter springboard with a score of 313.20 with junior Chelsie Lerew placing second (291.98). On the one-meter, Lerew and Manning swapped positions with Lerew turning in a winning mark of 282.08 and Manning following with a score of 270.98.
The Lady Seminoles (12-2, 2-1 ACC) will now focus on preparing for the upcoming Atlantic Coast Conference Championships. The ACC meet will take place on February 20-22 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
