TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Following an undefeated weekend and a championship in the Unconquered Invitational to open the 2017 season, Florida State earned the No. 3 spot on Tuesday in both the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and USA Softball polls, receiving three and four first-place votes, respectively.
The Seminoles (5-0) continue their season on Wednesday, February 15 with a mid-week matchup against Florida A&M (0-5) at 6:00 p.m. at JoAnne Graf Field.
It will be the 117th meeting in the series as FSU holds a 109-7 advantage against its cross-town opponent, winning each of the last 21 games, dating back to 2006.
In the last meeting between the teams on May 20, 2016, an RBI double from FSU’s Jessica Warren in the first inning was the only hit recorded by either team as FAMU’s Kenya Pereira and Florida State’s Jessica Burroughs battled in an outstanding pitcher’s duel in the opening game of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. It marked the third no-hitter of Burroughs’ career as the Noles hung on for the 1-0 victory.
