TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – No. 3 Florida State (1-0-0) wraps up its season opening three-game road swing at No. 9 UCF (2-0-0) on Friday, August 24 at 7:00 p.m.
The two schools reunite after a one-year hiatus in 2011 that saw FSU advance to the College Cup and UCF make a run to the Elite Eight for the second time in school history.
Friday’s match marks the 12th all-time meeting between the Seminoles and the Knights with FSU leading the overall series 8-3-1, but the Seminoles are just 3-2-1 in Orlando. Florida State has won four of the last six meetings against UCF outscoring the Knights 16-5, while UCF is 1-0-1 against FSU in the last two meetings played on the Knights’ home turf.
Head coach Mark Krikorian owns an all-time record of 4-1-1 against the Knights, while UCF head coach Amanda Cromwell is 2-8-1 against FSU since arriving in Orlando.
The two schools last met in Tallahassee in 2010 as FSU defeated UCF behind goals by Toni Pressley, Kassey Kallman and Breezy Hupp. Kelsey Wys played all 90 minutes between the posts and made four saves.
Entering its 18th season, Florida State has faced 11 schools from the Sunshine State compiling a record of 71-17-2. FSU has posted a +.500 winning percentage over 10 schools including the Knights of UCF. The Seminoles will face three schools from the state of Florida in 2012 (UCF, Florida and Miami).
Under head coach Mark Krikorian, FSU is 51-30-8 all-time against ranked foes and 8-7-1 last year.
