TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The No. 3 Florida State Men’s Golf team prepares for a competitive field as it tees off Sunday morning at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate at Los Cabos Querencia in Mexico.
The Seminoles won the tournament last season, winning by eight strokes over Vanderbilt with a 13-under and an aggregate score of 839. Current senior Rowin Caron had a tremendous individual performance, finishing second with an 8-under 205. Fellow senior Hank Lebioda tied for fourth with a 6-under 207.
Florida State will compete against a 15-team field that includes seven ranked opponents, including No. 2 Wake Forest, No. 3 FSU, No. 7 Stanford, No. 11 Georgia, No. 14 California, No. 15 Vanderbilt and No. 18 LSU.
FSU is coming off a good showing at the SunTrust Gator Invitational, led by redshirt junior Cristobal Del Solar’s 5-under 205. The Seminoles shot 9-under overall to tie for fourth at the spring-opening tournament. Four Seminoles finished in the Top 15, including Del Solar, Lebioda (1-under, 14th), junior Josh Lee (1-under) and Caron (1-under).
The Seminoles’ five performers include Del Solar, Lee, Lebioda, Caron and Harry Ellis. The group is scheduled to tee off at 9 a.m. local time on Sunday on the Par-71, 6,928-yard course.
Since the fall, Lebioda and Del Solar are 11th and 12th nationally with average scores of 69.87 and 70.08, respectively.
