TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Diana Taurasi and Ann Strother scored 18 points
apiece as third-ranked Connecticut extended the nation’s longest winning streak
to 50 games with a 74-55 victory Monday night over Florida State.
The Huskies (11-0) didn’t start out well. They committed 11 turnovers, and
even trailed the Seminoles for a 4-minute stretch in the first half.
Florida State (7-3) was led Tasheika Morris with 18 points.
The Huskies responded to a 17-13 deficit with a 17-2 run. Strother made two
free throws to tie it at 17, and Taurasi followed with a layup to put the
Huskies ahead for good.
Maria Conlon made a 3-pointer to extend the lead to nine with 4:44 left in
the first half, and followed with a layup 38 seconds later to stretch it to
30-19. The Huskies were ahead 39-26 at halftime.
Florida State took its lead on Holly Johnson’s free throw with 12:09 to play
in the first half. They extended their advantage to 17-13 when Katelyn Vujas
hit another free throw.
