No. 30/24 Women’s Tennis Head to Winston Salem to Take on No. 14 Wake Forest and NC A&T

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –The No. 30/24 Florida State women’s tennis team (9-6) looks to get back in the winner’s circle after a tough weekend at home. The Seminoles came away with many bright spots though as they took three courts from No. 1 North Carolina including ranked wins on courts one, two and six. Sophomore Carla Touly also earned a ranked win on court one against NC State.

Florida State trails in the all-time series against Wake Forest 18-21. Under head coach Jennifer Hyde, the Garnet and Gold are 11-4 against the Demon Deacons and have outscored them 64-35 in their 15 meetings including two shutout wins by the Noles. Wake is led by junior and No. 32 ranked Emma Davis as well as freshman and No. 94 ranked Eliza Omirou in singles. Davis has gone 14-3 this spring with 13 of those wins coming on court one; she also has four wins against ranked opponents. Omirou is off to a 12-4 start in her freshman campaign with 11 of those wins coming on court two; she is 2-1 against ranked opponents. In doubles, the Demon Deacons are led by Davis and sophomore Chandler Carter, who have combined to go 11-1 with a 6-1 record on court one and a 5-0 record on court 2.

This will be the Seminoles first match against North Carolina A&T. The Aggies are 0-13 on the year.

5 Five different Seminoles have clinched a match this season led by sophomore Andrea Garcia who has clinched three this season.

10 Touly has recorded 10 doubles victories to lead the Noles in doubles wins this spring.

24 The ranking of Sara Daavettila when Petra Hule defeated her a week ago. It was the second and highest ranked win of her career.
30 Florida State is ranked No. 30 in this week’s Oracle/ITA Rankings. They have now been ranked for six weeks in a row. Touly is also ranked 30th, the highest ranking of her career.
59 The Seminoles have outscored their opponents 67-28 in their first 15 matches of the year.
105 Freshman Petra Hule comes in ranked No. 105 and is the first time she has been ranked.
112 The ranking of Chloe Ouellet-Pizer when junior Julia Mikulski defeated her a week ago. It was Mikulski’s first ranked win of the season.
205 Head coach Jennifer Hyde is the all-time winningest women’s tennis coach in Florida State history with 205 wins. She earned her 200th win after beating FAU 6-1.

Noles in the Polls
In the latest ITA poll, Florida State comes in at No. 30. In the USTA top-25, Florida State comes in at No. 24. The Seminoles also have two ranked singles player and two ranked Doubles pair. The duo of sophomore Andrea Garcia and freshman Petra Hule are ranked No. 64 and the pair of Carla Touly and Ariana Rahmanparast are ranked No. 58. Touly is ranked No. 54 in singles and Hule is ranked No. 105 in this week’s Oracle/ITA rankings.
