TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 33 Florida State men’s tennis team (9-3) hits the road to Atlanta, Ga. to take on the No. 12 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (8-2, 1-0 ACC) at noon Sunday at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
“It’s our first match in conference in what I would say is the best conference in the country,” head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “Any time on the road is a difficult match. This going to be a tough one and I think our guys are going to need to play at their best and understand that nothing will come easy to play all the way through the match.”
With a 5-2 victory last season in Tallahassee, Florida State leads the all-time series 36-29 against Georgia Tech.
“We’re becoming a better team, we’re becoming a better doubles team,” redshirt junior Jose Gracia said. “It’s definitely going to be loud, there’s going to be a lot of people there, it’s kind of a rivalry we have with them.”
The nationally-ranked Noles have 11 of 12 possible doubles points this season, the lone loss coming in the 4-1 comeback win over Pepperdine.
“We’ve got to make sure we stay fundamental- I think when we play longer points, it’s to our advantage,” Hultquist said.
