No. 45 Seminoles Men’s Tennis Drops ACC Match To No. 41 North Carolina, 6-1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Seminoles grabbed the first
point of the match and then dropped the six singles matches to lose
Saturday afternoon to ACC rival North Carolina 6-1. Florida State fell to
9-4 and 1-2 in the ACC.

To open the match, the Seminoles captured the doubles point with a
win at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. North Carolina ‘s Phillips/Brownlow won
the No. 1 doubles match by a score of 8-3. Increasing their overall record
to 7-4 and dual match record to 5-4, FSU’s No. 2 doubles team of
Travis/Schnell defeated the Tar Heels Cheatwood/Petrone by a score of 9-7.
Clinching the doubles point for Florida State was the No. 3 doubles tandem
of Ingham/Mooney. This duo increased their dual season record to 3-2 with
an 8-2 win over Archer/Drori.

At No. 1 singles, 29th-ranked Xavier Luscan of Florida State was
defeated by 56th-ranked Tripp Phillips by a score of 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. The
second of three three-set matches was at No. 2 singles where FSU’s Mike
Ingham lost to UNC’s Assaf Drori by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. The final
three-set match of the afternoon was at No. 5 singles, where North
Carolina’s Trysten Meniane won over Florida State’s Chad Mooney by a score
of 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.

Florida State will look to rebound from Saturday’s loss on Sunday
against Georgia State. The Seminoles match against the Golden Panthers on
Sunday will be at 1 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
